Episode 10

TEN!

“Hey, did you watch Fallon last night?”

That seems to be the question that circulates around my office everyday now. Not, “Hey, did you watch the Tonight Show?”  Does that make Fallon bigger or more recognizable than the show name itself? Perhaps, but one thing’s for sure. I look forward to tuning in every night, because it’s more than a talk show - It’s a spectacle and always keeps you guessing. What new trick, flubbed joke or hilarious banter with Higgins is Jimmy going to do?

MONOLOGUE: A pretty solid set of jokes from Jimmy tonight. Nothing really stood out like the joke flub from last night. With that said… Lets just shift on over to the desk, but first here’s the highlights from the monologue: LeBron's Mask, Grandson Mix-up -- Monologue

THANK YOU NOTES: James Poyser has got to be running out of faces at the start of Thank You Notes, but it’s what makes the segment so great. What also makes Thank You Notes so great is the banter in between Notes, especially when they dip into voices. It’s almost funnier than the notes themselves. After the note about Extended Stay Hotels, Jimmy went into an improvised conversation with himself as a dead beat dad staying in that hotel and calling his son while going through a divorce. Thank You Notes: The Bachelor, Kate Upton's In…

GUESTS:  Cameron Diaz. Is there anyone in Hollywood Jimmy doesn’t seem legitimate friends with? They list off a lot of firsts: Jimmy’s first SNL was when Diaz hosted, Diaz was on Jimmy’s first week at Late Night and now Tonight Show, and they also went to Africa. Oh, and don’t forget Diaz introducing Jimmy to Justin Timberlake, which we all know, is great for all of us, but really… The greatest thing was the picture of Diaz pranking Jimmy’s baby daughter Winnie by putting her hand in warm water, because she was the first to fall asleep at a party. Wait, Jimmy hangs out with these people outside the show? Where can I sign up to be his friend?!

What other late night talk show can get Cameron Diaz inside the hosts pants…wait…I phrased that wrong. What other talk show can get Jimmy get in Cameron Diaz’s pants… CRAP… I feel like Jimmy with the celery stick joke from Thursday night. Jokes aside, it’s amazing what celebrities will do with Jimmy and dancing around in three legged pants its just ridiculous. You can watch it here: Three-Legged Pants Dance with Cameron Diaz

Ralph Fiennes didn’t want to F*** it up… Aaaaaaaand that little clip of Grand Budapest Hotel really made me want to see that movie. As did this official trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Fg5iWmQjwk

Wait, next week Jimmy is having Stephen Colbert on the show?! Oh how great will that be!? The big question will be if Colbert will be in character or be Stephen, you honestly, never know what you’ll get

MARIO!!!! Mario Batali on the show is always solid, as are cooking segments in general, but it is fitting Mario is the first cooking segment on Jimmy’s Tonight Show. The two are good friends (of course they are) and Mario, with his fleece sweater vest thing, has been on the old Late Night Show many times. Anytime booze is involved in the show, be it beer pong games, or straight alcohol on these cooking segments, Jimmy always acts looser than usual, all for the laugh and its fantastic. Makers Mark on a burger… You bet!

So ends two weeks of shows and it looks to still be going strong. What are your thoughts 10 shows in?
